There were barely any signs of Spring just a week ago but this week it seems to take off with a severe winter storm and higher temperatures melting snow and exposing beautiful rocks on the Icelandic west coast.

Compared to last week it was not cold at all, although the wind started catching up minutes after taking this photo. Later in the evening we were stuck in Snæfellsnes peninsula for the night due to severe weather conditions over the mountain pass (Highway 56) making it impossible to get back to our hotel.

Difficult to perceive from the Deception Pass bridge 180 feet above the water surface, the strait that connects Skagit Bay to Strait of Juan de Fuca has a varying depth of 6 to over 200 feet at places, combined with strong riptides poses danger to water traffic and divers.

Water follows the path of least resistance through rocks and sand, providing excellent opportunities to capture the movement in extended exposure photographs.
